Vanin is used in all age groups by infusion for the treatment of the following serious infections:
a. Infections of the skin and tissues below the skin.
b. Infections of bone and joints.
c. An infection of the lungs called "pneumonia".
d. Infection of the inside lining of the heart (endocarditis) and to prevent endocarditis in Patients at risk when undergoing major surgical procedures.
e. Infection in central nervous system,
f. Infection in the blood linked to pneumonia, endocarditis and undergoing major surgical procedures.
Serious or severe infections caused by susceptible strains of methicillin-resistant (beta-lactam-resistant) staphylococci
Indicated for penicillin-allergic patients, for patients who cannot receive or who have failed to respond to other drugs, including the penicillins or cephalosporins, and for infections caused by vancomycin-susceptible organisms that are resistant to other antimicrobial drugs
Vancomycin is indicated for initial therapy when methicillinresistant staphylococci are suspected, but after susceptibility data are available, therapy should be adjusted accordingly
